PRIMOの再発CDシリーズ6作目。今回はブルースブラザーズのサポートで今春も来日していたボルチモア生まれのピアニスト/アレンジャーのAnthony “Rusty” Cloudが1978年にNYCでリリースした自主盤。当時ライブやご本人の周りで手売りしていたレコードで、中古盤もそこまで流通していないせいか、今まで紹介される機会が少なかった作品 。スピリチュアル〜フリー・ジャズを行ったり来たりする、耽美で力強いアレンジ、ピースフルかつ美しい楽曲群が素晴らしいです。エクストラトラックのウッドストックレコーディング初期セッション&次作(未完成)に収録予定であった音源もカッコいいのでぜひチェックしてみて下さい。

What an awesome numbers they are!Anthony “Rusty” Cloud was born in Baltimore in 1951, and is now a pianist and arranger and still playing as a tour member of many artists including the Blues Brothers.After he had met Herbie Hancock and so at Jazz workshop which joined in his schooldays, he had been performing in small clubs each and every day while felt in love with the music under the influence of James Joseph Brown and Muddy Waters.He set his mind on success and moved to New York, and released “KARUNA” as a private press with negligible pieces. The existence is “People in the know, know” in the world and famous disk of spiritual Jazz made in New York. That’s an amazing secret masterpiece!

T3. Peace Rahsaan: Fill with feeling of blues devoted to Roland Kirk.

Three unreleased songs such as T5&T6, early period session sound source, and T.7, was supposed to record in an Album (unfinished) as planned next piece, are exclusively recorded as bonus tracks.

The fusion/jazz group REVERIE was co-founded by keyboardist / principal composer Mark Knox and drummer Jim Miller in their Midwestern U.S. hometown of Indianapolis in the mid-seventies. Upon relocating to the East Coast, they encountered saxophonist E.J. Yellen (b. Brooklyn, NY) and bassist Gerald Veasley (b. Philadelphia, PA); shortly thereafter (1979) they recorded their first “demo” in New York City.

An extremely rare record by BEA BENJAMIN aka “Sathima” (wife of South African pianist/composer, Dollar Brand/Abdullah Ibrahim), found on the EKAPA label, #001 (a vanity imprint), and issued from recordings at the Downtown Sound Studios, NYC, in April, 1979, called “Sathima Sings Ellington” – in loving tribute to Duke Ellington with whom she worked. Mr. Brand also produced the album. Tunes are: “In A Mellow Tone”; “Prelude To A Kiss”; “Sophisticated Lady”; “Mood Indigo”; “Lush Life”; “I Let A Song Go Out Of My Heart” and “Solitude”.

Patrizia Scascitelli live session recording from 1975 is going to be on CD for the first time! First Italian press with original Edizioni Cultura Popolare label for this very rare record of the Italian jazz female pianist, with guests as Larry Dinwiddie, Karl Potter and Marvin “Boogaloo” Smith! A very rare piece for Italian jazz collectors!This album will include a bonus track of re-edit track by jazz club unit STARDISH will a live scene on CD-extra.

Ultra-rare, private release from the early seventies, and what an album it is too. Prepare to be dazzled by Ms Grauer’s awesome explosion of Fender jazz!! Funky fusion of the highest order, this LP is truly a delight to listen to. Intricate playing, funky beats, great tunes. Including the original version of “Frog Child” taking a funkier, more direct approach, the effect is electrifying. “Inside, Outside” – that groove just won’t stop.

A totally amazing vocal jazz album from the early 70s — an obscure private pressing album from Primo Kim, an obscure singer — but a great one too! Primo’s got a very hip approach to his work — a sound that’s somewhere in the territory of Mark Murphy or Bobby Cole — light years from mainstream male vocals, and often served up with some very jazzy grooves in the background! Many tracks here are originals by Primo, and a few others are well-chosen covers too — and in a way, the feel is quite like some of Mark Murphy’s best overseas work of the 60s, or Bobby Cole’s landmark album from the early 60s — a set without compare, and with a freshness that’s just getting appreciated all these many years later.
