After 2 years from his last release, the 5TH release by one of the top leading Jazz DJs in Tokyo Hironobu Jyounai’s Jazz project “PRIMO & THE GROUPE” has finally arrived! Delightfully colourful and ambitious work with two featured vocalists – Heidi Vogel, also known as the lead singer of The Cinematic Orchestra, and Spicy&Sexy Deborah Ledon from Tronto!

5 included works are : “Can I Change”: A supreme Jazz dance tune with a miraculous encounter of Heidi’s stillness-motion intertwined vocal and its stylish arrangement, “Tiffany Girl” is very thrilling, super fast ensemble of the peacefully dancing saxophone and pianos on the solid rhythm section, “Hunk of Heaven”, the Hawaiian AOR masterpiece was reconstructed to dance floor salsa tune, and its demo version has been a song of the news everywhere in its early demo stage, “Jazz Carnival” is a long and spiritual Jazz with 7/8 tricky rhythm, and lastly a remix by Jazzbrothers, which has deepened the dynamism and emotion of Jazz to the next level by digesting their experiences through 90’s Drum’n Bass to recent Dubstep.

Domestically pressed 180g Vinyl and CD is also included. Now already his standard “neko” jacket was faithfully printed with luxury coated paper, designed and finished in Japan.

A1. SUN : A really great set of spiritually-tuned jazz from PRIMO. This has a freewheeling, exploratory sound that takes off in a mode that’s a bit post-Coltrane, but which also has some freer touches too. This track have a rhythmic, Strata East-like quality.

A2. Why He Had To Go : This is my sound encapsulated in four minutes of heart-stopping soul perfection. Clear vocal over a smoky beat, elegant horns and throbbing bass!

B1. Tell Me A Bedtime Story : PRIMO takes on Herbie Hancock – turning in a heavenly version of the classic – smooth, soulful, groover with Latin-influnced beat, spectacular horns, beautiful piano, lots of great keyboard lines and incredible vocals from Kylie Auldist.Kylie’s voice reminds me very much of early Aretha Franklin.

We come with news of a brand new PRIMO release that is garaunteed to provide some heat.Funky and free-thinking fusion! The work here has some great qualities that remind you of some of the best European fusion from mid 70’s. Instrumentation include alto sax, trumpet, electricpiano, and a fair bit of percussion.

The first production – “A Child Runs Free e.p” – wonderful modern take on Fred Johnson’s notoriously rare Vocal Jazz track was released. It was collected to a lot of compilations such as “Music For Jazzdancers”(Freestyle-UK), “Contemporary Jazz”(Tramp-Ger). A lot of famous DJ also publish in the playlist, and it receives high acclaim from domestic and foreign hard diggers.

‘Music for Jazz Dancers’ is a selection of hot & exclusive tunes taken directly from DJ Adrian Gibsons’ sets at ‘Messin’ Around’, the club he has been running for 14 years with DJ Perry Louis (who is also the leader of the Jazz CoTech Dancers)

The UK Jazz-Dance Scene is a uniquely positioned scene that has sent shock waves around the world and influenced countless artists, DJ’s and Dancers. Despite this, it is surprisingly sparsely documented with regards to CD’s, Books and articles detailing the songs, dance moves, key DJ’s, dancers and clubs. Luckily, we recently had the fantastic ‘From Jazz Funk & Fusion to Acid Jazz’ by Freestyle recording artist/DJ and now author Mark ‘Snowboy’ Cotgrove’

Peter Herbolzheimer’s Rhythm Combination & Brass featuring Dianne Reeves kick off the CD with a storming rendition of the Ray Noble jazz standard ‘Cherokee’ which was initially made famous by Charlie Parker. Other highlights include Primo & the Groupe’s ‘A Child Runs Free’, a wonderful modern take on Fred Johnson’s notoriously rare Vocal Jazz track, and Marcos Ariel’s ‘Samba Torto’ which is Brazilian Samba-Fusion of the highest order.

Music For Jazz Dancers draws together be-bop, nu-jazz, big band and samba/jazz fusion sounds, the common denominator being that they all inspire hot heeled hoofers to throw jazz shapes across discerning dancefloors the world over! If you like what you have heard you can visit some of the Jazz-Dance clubs like ‘Shiftless Shuffle’ or ‘Out To Lunch’ to experience the music and atmosphere for yourself.

Let me take you there with my own words. Let’s begin this worldwide fascinating jazz untold story from the States included projects. US represented here with Cultures of Rhythm and their ‘’Bodhisvattva Wonderful Sound’’, an incredible introduction to this journey of intelligent human beings sences, with the horns, hammonds and Blue Note drops of NYC Sugarman 3’s on ‘’Sugar’s Boogaloo’’, with Eli Sundelson and “Rockridge Kids“ that can travel you with his high speed jazz train to the right direction at time and finally with the lost funky latinized jazz party stormer of Nick Rossi Set ‘’Sweet Tater Pie’’.

From Germany we can meet the not long time excisted side project of Poets of Rhythm, Das Goldene Zeitalter with Bajka on vocals on her first voice steps, modern old jazzers from Perfect Toy Hipnosis and their ’’Hier kommt die Laterne’’ jammin’, the deep spiritual nightale jazz of Deep Jazz’s ‘’Starlings Talk’’, is one of my fave highlight here, with an exclusive version of that track that already included in his debut album in Perfect Toy Records recently and the unknown and limited recordable spectrum to jazz discography of Wayne Bartlett, here with his cover of ‘’Sènor Blues’’ can judge not only by the cover this excellent masterpiece compilation of Tramp. Also Tramp’s super funky jazzers The Hi-Fly Orchestra with their b side – and only in vinyl released before -’Getting’ Down’.
Finally from one of my faves world jazz metropolis in the world, Tokyo, we can enjoying an cover full of fresh juice of ‘’how to re:touch a thrilled jazz classic’’ fruit. Ladies & gentlemen Primo – Dj and Primo Records owner, Hironobu Jyounai – and the Groupe with their new born ‘’A Child Runs Free’’ can suprice you on track number 6.
